Where they were
Since 2005, Pret-a-Portrait has been offering contemporary, high-quality school and portrait photography.

As the company grew rapidly, the back-office team became bogged down in spreadsheets and manual processes, costing the business time and money.

A third-party, off-the-shelf provider was being used for customers ordering online. However, as Pret-a-Potrait grew, the system was not fit for purpose. Pret-a-Portrait realised they needed something more robust, built to their requirements, that delivered the experience their customers demanded, whilst enabling the business to expand through greater operational efficiency.

What we did
Click was approached back in 2008. After getting to grips with their complex business model, we delivered a number of bespoke solutions aimed at streamlining back-end processes and enhancing the front-end experience for customers and photographers.

These included:

  • A fully customised online shop
  • An application to help the back office team to manage bookings and events
  • A customer relationship management (CRM) system
  • Online image processing and post production capabilities
  • A portal for schools and photographers

Over the years, Click’s bespoke solutions have provided the operational platform for Pret’s business to grow internationally with the business trading across Europe, in Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

Recently the server infrastructure was moved to Azure cloud and fully multilingual capabilities were added to the customer website. A replicated database infrastructure ensures high availability and performance systems across regions.

We were early adopters of Amazon storage to handle the management of the image files. To date, the system has processed and stored over 100 million photos.
