Pret-a-Portrait
How a bespoke solution transformed business efficiency and enabled international expansion

Situation
Since 2005, Pret-a-Portrait has been innovating in the school and portrait photography market, offering fresh, contemporary photography delivered across a high-quality product range.

As the company grew rapidly, Pret’s back-office team became bogged down in spreadsheets and manual processes. A third party off-the-shelf provider was being used for customer online ordering and was not delivering the experience that Pret’s customers expected. Pret-a-Portrait realised they needed a robust, bespoke system that could both grow with the business and help the business expand, whilst providing their customers with the best online experience possible.

Solution
Click was approached in 2008 and we soon got to work getting under the skin of Pret-a-Portrait’s unique and complex business model. Within 12 months we delivered a bespoke solution tailored exactly to Pret’s requirements, which handled all of Pret’s business processes. The solution included:

  • Despatch modules
  • School portal for event management and commission
  • Photographer portal for availability diary and commission

Outcome
Over the years, Click’s bespoke solution has allowed Pret’s business to grow internationally with operations across Europe, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and Qatar. Recently the server infrastructure was moved to Azure cloud and fully multilingual capabilities were added to the customer website. A replicated database infrastructure ensures high availability and performance systems across regions.

We innovated with early use of Amazon storage to handle the online storage of the image files. To date, the system has processed and stores over 100 million files.
